column swap question

What is the easiest column swap for my 62 chevy? Tilt would be nice but not needed. Would a 67-72 column bolt in pretty easy? I see them for sale alot and usually cheap.

Thats what alot of people use, a 67-72 column because there is so many. I have a stock 60-66 auto column in my truck, but I found a 72 auto column at a salvage yard for $50 the other day. The only reason I'm changing it is the 72 column is in better shape than mine. I hear its nothing to put it in a 60-66 truck. I'll let you know as soon as I put it in.

Re: column swap question

Is your column shot? Just dont like it? I picked up most parts for mine and replaced the bearings and turn signals and it works well and will stay in the truck...........tilt would be nice, I agree!

To be honest, I don`t really know the condition of it. The guy I got the truck from pulled the good column for his 66 and gave me the other. He already had them swapped before I even called on the truck. He said the other one was junk. I didn`t even take a look at it though. It might be repairable for all I know but I figured if I could find one that was in good usable shape as is then it would save some time. I see alot of 67-72 column for sale so I thought if they bolted in pretty easy I might pick one up.
