Cab Mounts Pictures

OK while I had the carpet out of the truck I decided it was a good time to redo the cab mounts. I had to cut both front mounts off with a saw. The bushing was so rusted it was not coming out. The backside mounts came right out with no problems.

OK now for my Question:
I bought the kit and I have two mounts left over...what are they for you reckin'. I looked at the old ones and I put the new in like they where.

I'm not sure were you bought the set from, but my set included mounts for the radiator core support, since that is affected by changing the body mounts.

You maybe right I hadn't thought of that. Evrything is lined up though.

Not quite sure what you got there but I do see the beveled edge bushings are upside down. THe wide part against the frame mount and the smaller bevel would go with the new left over washer and then the nut. But I don't remember a bushing against another bushing as it is in your picture. You might take a quick look at another original truck. Mark

like he said, the lower sections are upside down and one set off the rear are the lower part for the radiator mounts

yup....you need to make a few changes and use the small set for the radiator support.

Looks like you got the "generic" mounts. They actually are 73 up mounts IIRC. Now I guess a lot of people use these, but I only use the original style replacements. LMC, Classic parts of america, or check board vendors here. Get the "correct" ones and sell the others to someone else. There should be a square washer on the front mount between the cab and the mount too, usually, sometimes not, sometimes two. depend on how fenders line up with cab, but I always start with one square washer up there. Also check the bolts that come with the kit and make sure that they are at least grade 5 (3 line), the originals were grade 5, only 4 bolts holdng the cab on, I don't want some cheap grade 2 bolt on there.

I would leave them alone. They lasted almost 40 years, so big deal you have them backwards they may only last 30. Were they hard to do?. Can I do this without removing carpet?

Bot trying to be picky but you may also want to apply the correct torque. I think these are like 60 or 70 lbs. They should squish a little.
