MSD Distributor set up

I am installing dist. and wires etc. The dist. is the MSD billet. All of the info I have has 2 choices fpr position of number 1............looking at the motor with the engine in front of you facing rear of truck...... the 1 position for standard disributor is 6:30 and for HEI it is 5:30....
I know it doesn't realy matter where 1 is .... as long as the firing sequence is correct for placement of the rest of the wires. Is there a prefered position for the MSD distributor?

Re: MSD Distributor set up

I just walked outside & looked @ mine.
# 1 is about 6:30-7:ish.

The only reason I can see for that, it's about where the factory dizzy was set.
