67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

See the pic's and what they sold for at:
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...h/carlist.aspx
I saw six 67-72 trucks.
Top seller was a 72 Custom Deluxe 20 for $30,000.00.

I use to go to Barrett Jackson when they came to Arizona. You could watch the prices of local classics practically double during the month before and after. The sad part is Barrett Jackson's cut is pretty sizable for both the seller and buyer!

I was at the Scottsdale auction in January, and saw a 1971 Cheyenne C 10 go for 41,000 bucks!!! That is ridiculous.

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

BJ's fees are ridiculous, I think they make something like 12% buyers fee and 8% sellers fee. Think about it on a $100k car they get $20k fee UNREAL! I like the cars but I don't like them. Even the Speed channel has sooooo many commercials that its too much. I record it and fast forward to only the cars and trucks I like to see and then delete it from the TIVO. I would never buy a car from BJ.

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

You know what though, relative to the prices of some of the other classics, our trucks are pretty inexpensive. Note: there are always exceptions to the rule! And BJ is always on the high side of things. But what we may think is expensive as hobbyists may not be expensive to someone who has the money to buy a truck to drive once in a blue moon on Sundays or park in their air conditioned "showroom" for their buddies to drool over. Try to go buy one of the tri-five Chevys in good condition and see what you will pay. YMMV

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

Wow, the one had the very rare z84 custom sport truck package!!! OMG!! I can't believe I finally saw one!! LOL! The guy selling it probably didn't even know that was changed to the cheyenne package in 71. the options were endless though, with front/rear sway bar, tilt, road suspension, etc.!! BJ is a complete joke to me. just my .02

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

that was an odd list, all the C10's were longbeds?? and there was a hemi challanger convertable for 49k... seems that the value of our trucks are going up and the value of the other cars are getting more realistic. just my thoughts looking at this list.

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

i was reading along, and happened to open up this truck.

see for yourself, scroll until you see a 1972 chevy C-10

says its a "fully documented" factory Z84 package with an LS9 350?

the LS9 didn't come out until like 2008, and its not even 350 ci?

i really thought that barrett Jackson was a class act, and that stuff like this wouldn't get in.

which makes me wonder, was there ACTUALLY a Z84 package, even without the "LS9"?

sports tuned suspension? and other things listed?

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

well, i'm glad someone else saw the crap that was put in some of the descriptions. the z84 package was the cst package til 71, then it became the cheyenne package. it doesn't even sound like BJ or the owner knew what it meant, but it HAD to be rare, right. what a joke

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

My '69 truck data book does list the Z84 option, but it doesn't say whether or not it was available only on the Special Edition trucks, or not. Wait, there were no Special Editions, right? Saw a post on here yesterday, and I got cornfuzzed.

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

im pretty sure a "stock" motor in that era would be a GEN III? correct me if im wrong.

the LS series motors didn't start until at least the 90's

LS1,LS2 etc.

the LS9 just came out in the new 2009 vettes.

...or so i thought.

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

LS6 was the 450HP 454 in the chevelles and 70-71 Corvettes, LS5 was a detuned LS6, w/ about 370 HP, i'm pretty sure i heard somebody say something about a LS9 350 on these boards

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

I went to the BJ show yesterday and looked at all the 67-72's. That 30k one was beautiful . super clean underneath. How about that 65 ss chevelle that went for 170K + fees that close to a 1/4 million $. thats sick money.......

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

I have an LS9 in my truck, factory ordered that way.the build sheet lists it as "LS9 V8 ENG 350CU LD".

I think the LS9 was a standard 240hp 350 V8 with a 4bbl. nothing special, just a solid small block....

Re: 67-72's at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach

The codes went from LS9 to LS-9 for two completely different designs seperated by decades, didn`t it?I`m no modern engine expert at all. But,I thought I read here that there was confueion caused by repeting codes by adding a dash.

I see the words Barrett and Jackson and I my classic car loving arse gets completely turned off.The investor has killed the hobby for the common enthusiasts. You used to have to have a general knowledge of the workings of a vehicle to consider running one down the road. Now,it just requires a wad of money and top credit rating.White color grease monkeys?
