Starter woes

Ok guys...here's what I need to know (quickly if possible). I was clumsily installing a new starter switch and some bare wires made contact. I had previously tied the two wires togrther and it started normally. After my boo boo, no start. I checked all the fuses at the fuse box and they were fine. Any thought? Is there a special fuse protecting the starter circuit?
