I did Bob. That's what makes this so puzzling.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

I'm still thinking, Rob. I have been looking over pictures of mine that I have on this computer and I can see that my calipers are bolted directly to the bracket with no shims, and centered over the rotor, so I am puzzled too as to why this is happening......

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

You might send Frizzle Fry a PM. I found this pic on his burb build thread, it doesn't look like he is using shims either.

I can't be too much help right at this moment in comparing notes since I have my rear-end torn apart.

Bob can you get a measurement from the bracket mounting surface to the back and front of the rotor?

That pic I posted is Frizzle Fry's. My rear-end is torn down at the moment. Maybe shoot Mike a PM and see if he can get them for you.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Frizzle, do you have a part # for the banjo bolts? I am going to start my conversion next week when I am on vacation. I am trying to order some S/S braided flex lines, too. Waiting on my brackets back from powder coating. the rotors will be here Monday.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

I haven't picked up the banjo bolts yet. I just figured I'd ask for 97 camaro rear banjos at NAPA and go from there. Here's what they show online.

On the shims; I did end up putting the washer from glock's kit between the bracket and caliper, and a lock washer under the bolt head (in place of the flat washer). Mine was definitely not as severe as yours Rob. How thick are the square spacers on the brackets? I think glock changed those on the second batch (partially my fault). They needed to go thinner, not thicker. So if you have the thicker square spacers that's part of the problem (mine are from the first batch and are the same thickness as the brackets). Also, have you bolted your wheels on yet? The rotors will probably seat a little more when you do. The last thing I can think of would be if the outer pad was not seated fully outboard in the caliper.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

I torqued the rotors down with five open headed bolts, so I don't think that is the problem. I looks like the welded on spacers is the difference. What size should those welded on spacer's be? I would rather change those than add the spacer back in between the calper and bracket.

Also, FF, what are those weights that are attached to your calipers for? I bought a set for core's that have them, but my new calipers from NAPA don't. The new ones have a totally different bracket setup that won't even allow you to bolt the weights on. Any ideas? Thanks,

R

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

I'd remove the spacers and replace them with whatever size spacer puts you in the right spot. They don't have to be welded on. Those weights are resonance dampeners since they are floating calipers. GM uses them a few places I've seen. Including one on my T56 Transaxle.

Thanks for that info, I'd been wondering what those things were too. So without them you may get quite the squeal?

Frizzle, how hard was it to bend you hard lines to fit in the back of the caliper? I'm going to try this instead of buying new lines.

My calipers look different. I didn't get the surround for the brake pad and mounting area. Will it come with the brake pads?

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

I guess it's because I bought unloaded calipers. I will take them back tomorrow and exchange for loaded calipers. They are only $11 more.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Easy with a bender Without one, not sure. People do it. If you don't have a line bender use a pipe or something to set the radius and avoid kinks.

I'm going to use the Camaro flex lines as advised.

I paid $165 apiece for my calipers at Napa (core charge was $82) and another $50 for the pads.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

So, does the camaro flex line screw on to the T junction, or do you add it to the old hard line on the axle tube. Here's a link for the $11 loaded caliper. http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...rchFor=Caliper

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

My neighbor is an assistant manager at Advanced auto. I got a pair of unloaded calipers for $170 total, core included.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Yes, the flex lines are adapted to the existing steel lines (still requires bending) with the adapter provided in Glock's kit. The flex lines are only like 6" long. At least that's the theory, I have yet to install mine.

The mounting bracket on mine is rubbing the rotor.
