Powdercoated springs?
We've all seen the powdercoated hood hinge/springs being sold. Any thoughts on the effect of powdercoating springs? It might be a goofy thing to worry about, but I wonder about the effect on the rate of the spring and the longevity of the coating.

I don't think the oven gets hot enough to effect the rating of the spring.

I was thinking in terms of them being coated. Doesn't seem like powdercoating is very flexible. I doubt folks are using a special type for the springs. I also wonder how you'd coat them? Do you stretch them on a jig before spraying and baking? Otherwise, they wouldn't get an even coating. I'm feeling this is a weird question for this time of the morning... lol.

I ceramic coated my rear springs and am going to do the same to the front
Much better than PC for that application. |

Is this a flexable coating? I have PC rear springs NAPA blue and it cracked and is peeling off I think quality prep is the first suspect!

$75 per spring. I wanted a charcoal/cast iron color, but that was baked on at 7 00 or 800 degrees. The silver color was baked on at 3 or 350. I can find out for sure. I didn't want to compromise the integrity of the spring just to have a certain color. More bling than I wanted, but I really wanted to see how durable of a coating it is. I plan on taking some more parts to them when the focus is on the engine.

I am getting ready to PC my springs with Mirror Black- 400 degrees and 10 min. cure time, should have no negitive effect whatsoever. I do springs for slightly less dinero.
