I'm looking at getting a replacement bearing and found this one on Classic Heartbeat

My question is there supposed to be a spring on the inside? or just on the outside?
I take it that I should be able to pop out my old bearing and reuse the holder? (I also found several places that have just the bearings.

I replaced them both, it's not that much more money. The bearing should slide right in. And I'm not aware of any spring in there. I would get a shop manual if you don't have one; they have got a couple of pretty good pictures of the column expanded. Either that, or an LMC parts catalog.

The spring goes just above the intermediate shaft coupler: there's a washer on one side, and the bearing on the other. Here's an illustration:

Thanks Dan. That's how I understood it to go, but was wondering since I seen the one on Classic Heartbeat showing the spring.
You never know what was changed by the PO.
