Evil Bay rant
Ok sometimes you can get great deals on ebay, and sometimes you can get those jerkoffs that are so arrogant and so on.
I saw this truck that is somewhat local to me but very local to my father on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123 So I emailed him and asked him if it were a true factory 4x4 due to i didnt see the 4x4 placard on the fender. So he emails me back and says yes it is a factory 4x4 and procedes to give me the vin starting off with CExxxxxx instead of KExxxxxx well I explained to him that it isnt a true 4x4 and that he shouldnt be misleading it as such. but after i read some of the questions and answers he had posted at the end of the auction i can say what a winner lol rant over

Re: Evil Bay rant
I asked him a question, as I hate liars and bullies on the bay, thinking I'll drop ebay a note as well. Looks like a 2wd truck on a 4X4 frame, no biggie it is nice but not a $10-12k truck maybe $4-5k.
CE is a 2wd VIN, so it is not a true 4X4 why are you mis representing this vehicle. Do your homework before you bad mouth people for asking legitimate questions. If you lie about this vehicles origins (2wd vs a "real" 4X4 they are going to think what else is he lieing about? $4k is about tops for a frankenstien. Good luck and be respectful when you respond, showing your true colors also turns potential buyers off. |

Re: Evil Bay rant
It's a nice truck, but I see plenty of "rust." The seams along the door bottoms appear to have some surface rust as well as the frame and rest of the under carraige. It has a camaro steering wheel and aftermarket A/C
I'd buy it for 6K, but alas, I have no $$$ (of course, pending a thorough inspection, I don't trust "northern trucks.")

Re: Evil Bay rant
Do it, just be sure to check the box in order to block your email!! He is one of those guys that loses it over nothing, asking for a reserve is normal, just respond politley that the reserve is kept for a reason, or something, not so A-holey like "how much Money is in your Bank account!!??)

Re: Evil Bay rant
Come on fellas, it's possible he bought the truck and was told it was a factory 4x4, some people just don't know better. Don't piss the poor guy off. I actually had someone ask me last week if my truck was a 77. No joke.

Re: Evil Bay rant
tell him to get the vin number off the frame, and ask why it has a np205 t-case, i thought all 69 4x4 trucks had the rockwell t-case

Re: Evil Bay rant
He may not be "in the know" but you answer a question from that stand-point, not coming off as a know it all. If I bought it and wasn't sure then was asked and told the "deal" I would go back and redo the listing, as is he has a fraudulent auction up, by stating factory 4X, with a 2wd CE VIN#, better to find out now than to be sued later.

Re: Evil Bay rant
I sent him a question too. After that I seen that he added this to the auction.
It has been brought to my attention that this is not a true factory four wheel drive, Sorry about the mess up. I purchased the truck as a 4x4 not being up on my Vin. numbers I made a mistake SORRY SORRY SORRY Poor guy, I think we should just kick back and see what happens.

Re: Evil Bay rant
I originally thought he was being a jerk. I guess he had no idea what he had and the listing is represented better now.

Re: Evil Bay rant
I hate to be rough on someone, but when a couple of guys set you straight on a deal like this, check it out and do the right thing, he came off the wrong way was my deal. He has fixed it and I hope he sells it, it is an OK truck.

Re: Evil Bay rant
Well, I'm glad he changed his auction. We wouldn't want to see some poor schmuck come to this site after buying that truck and finding out that what he bought wasn't necessarily what he got.
I agree that there was no reason for him to answer questions like that. But some ppl think the anonymous-ness of the net give them the right to be jerks.

I am with you, I hate it that some people think it's OK morally to get one over on someone. Buyer beware is a craptastic cover for these predators out there feeding on the uneducated buyers, well buyer beware, you shouldn't have trusted me, yadda yadda. I have sold things on the bay and this board where I made mistakes, and was corrected, if I was alerted politely I respond that way. Getting upset and bad mouthing gives me greater cause to think the seller has something to hide, right? I trust everybody, untill they prove me wrong. I don't get taken much if ever, but I do remember everyone that has taken advantage of my generosity. Just sucks that folks lie about cars and trucks. It is a nice truck with 4X4 so sell it as it is, makes me worry about tiling it in another state, now that I think about it, in AZ it would get inspected and with the VIN on the frame not matching the title, you get nothing here! WOW B U Y E R B E W A R E ! ! |

Re: Evil Bay rant
True, but IME AZ has only checked the door vin on the 4 trucks I've registered. I might just have lazy inspectors here in Yuma though.

Re: Evil Bay rant
I told him where to find the VIN on the frame and asked him if he would get it for me. He gave me this but there isnīt a KE on it: 1F618776
I also asked him if he would assist sending the truck to germany. He would be happy to but I would have to arrange for the transport. Nice guy. I also kindly asked what he wants for it but he wants to keep it secret. Anybody have any idea what the truck is worth with unmatching numbers?

Re: Evil Bay rant
The alternator and AC compressor are also on the "wrong" side for a '69 -- but nbd -- the thing is 39 years old -- a lot can happen to a truck in 39 years
the truck looks kinda cool though

Re: Evil Bay rant
The Truck just got put back on Ebay.
Here is the original Link. Here is the new. Letīs see what it ends at this time. I wish him luck with the unmatching numbers. He answered a Question about "Buy Now" and he answered 8500.
