Mallory 6AL

I just installed a 6 AL in the 67 and it started right up, ran for about a minute then died like someone turned off the key. Turn the key off, started it again and it ran fine for about a minute. And so, and so... Anyone else had this problem? I know it sounds like a ground, but the power and ground both go straight to the bat. I tried contacting Mallory but I'm not to impressed with their tech dept.

Talking Re: Mallory 6AL

I had an issue similar to that. My tach wire was grounding out the body so it kept shutting off the motor. So check all wires and make sure they dont have any exposed wires or anything...Just a thought

Mallory?
I'm thinking you meant MSD.
I have an MSD 6 A & haven't had any problems.

Could you maybe have the rev limiter set way too low?

Nothing more than a SWAG on my part.

Re: Mallory 6AL

Thanks guys,
I've checked an rechecked all the wiring, the tac works, the rev limiter is set to whatever it is they set it to (6500 I think). It's like a circuit breaker trips then resets when I turn the key off.
