wheel size recommendations

looking for some wheel size recomendations for both 2wd and 4wd. first what is the absolute widest wheel/tire combination you can fit on a 2wd without them sticking out? also what mod's are necessary to do this and what backspacing.
secondly on a 4wd can you have 33x10.5 tires on all four corners without having them stick out? if so what wheel size/back spacing/mods will allow this? i really don't want to lift the truck any more than necessary.
