New carrier bearing for two-piece driveshaft

Does anyone know where i could find a new carrier bearing for my two-piece driveshaft? any help would be greatly appreciated.

napa carries them here ...but they r crappy....and break quick .maybe someone else will chime in with a bullet proof solution..

Any parts store should be able to get you one. Once you have it in your hands, take it to someone who can weld (or do it yourself) and have the metal cover/cage (for lack of a better description) welded a bit better.
Or, if your driveshaft actually needs a new C-bearing, just toss it on the counter at your local drive shaft shop and have them press a new one on. (A hammer has no buisness around a shaft that spins at those RPMs) have some new U-joints and a spin ballance on the shaft and it'll be good for a long time.

I used the one on the left in the picture, which is the stock bearing on my truck. The one on the right is nice but cost a bit more. I am gonna take Longhorn Man's advice and beef up the support with additional welding.

i have used the one on the left cuase its all i could find and they never last long..the rubber always seperates ...i dont see how any kind of welding could prevent this.i have one on my 69 that has only been driven ..at the most 5 miles,in my yard at that,,never been abused and the rubber has broke away from the mount

I think PICKMUP carries the one on the right. Seems like I saw one on one of his shelfs last time I was down there.

I've used the one on the left also, the trick is making sure you align your u-joints correctly and having it balanced will make all the difference in the world and it will last years.

LMC has them... depending on what Bearing you have, 1.3780"ID 2WD 67-72 19.95 part # 34-1670 or 1.5748"ID 67-72 19.95 part # 34-1673... or most commonly on our trucks 1.1811"ID 67-72 16.95 part # 34-1671

Wes at Classic Heartbeat one of the site vendors sells bearings just bought mine from him, the type that fits on mine is the horseshoe type pictured here.

all carrier bearings need pressed on.
That shaft spins 2500 - 3500 RPM @ 70 MPH when you are on the freeway, depending on your gear ratio. A hammer doesn't belong anywhere near anything that spins like that.

thanks for all the help guys, i guess ill just take it to the driveshaft shop and let them do it, because it needs to be shortened anyway! since it needs to be balanced for the bearing to last long, they could just do it.

I hamered mine on ever so gently with a socket. It went on fine, but I have yet to run the shaft.

i installed mine when i did the trans new u joints lasted 3 months maybe 200 miles installed a new one from advance lasted 2 months, advance gave mea replacement i installed it but didn't putt he sheilds back on and it has yet to break again but this was 2 months before the motor went out

Got mine from Napa a few years ago. (Behind a 502HO) still smooth as silk).

Carrier bearing is not too hard to change if you have a press. For what shop will charge you, might as well buy a press. I got mine cheap at harbour freight and I love it.
