Re: 1970 K5 Bumpers/ Stock or ?

Seen this truck on Ebay with a similar setup as Kurt's.

Re: 1970 K5 Bumpers/ Stock or ?

I really like the look of that kmt bumper on that white k5. My concern is can I mount the right winch on it, without moving the bumper forward, like Burt's? Could use some feedback, and or pic's of this type of setup. Thank's.

Re: 1970 K5 Bumpers/ Stock or ?

I really like the looks of that kmta wincher on that white 1st. gen. My main concern is that I don't want to modify my brand new grille setup to fit up the winch. Could move it forward like Burt4x4's, but would take away from the tucked in look. Guess I'll try my luck getting a hold of kmta and see what they can do for me. Sure no one has any pic's or etc., of this on a first gen?

Re: 1970 K5 Bumpers/ Stock or ?

I mounted mine high & tight(without cutting the egg crate part of the grill)
I did need to cut the bottom of my grill, the chrome part that is normally tucked behind the stock bumper. The is a ^ groove on the bottom of the crome suround:

can't find a good pic of the cut I made

Re: 1970 K5 Bumpers/ Stock or ?

Thank's Burt. I like your bumper setup. I am now rethinking my plans. I like the way that wincher looks tucked back in under those cut fenders, but I don't want to modify my outer or inner grille assy. I also was wondering if I went with the bumper tucked under like that if I might be very limited to what winch might fit there. Thinking it might be better to go with a setup like your's, and get the best of both worlds?

Re: 1970 K5 Bumpers/ Stock or ?

With a setup like the white one you would need to run a winch and has no silly packs mounted to it, see how my winch has the top piece mounted to it poking out above the bumper...A Ramsey or even a Warn with a remote silly pack would be needed to keep the winch below the top of the bumper...untimitlay it comes down to are you doing it for looks or function? If your gonna wheel alot and plan on actually using the winch lean towards function vs. beauty

Re: 1970 K5 Bumpers/ Stock or ?

Thank's, Burt4x4. I knew this would be a problem area. Any ideas of what winch would be a good fit for that bumper and still be good for "function"? Really would like to hide the winch as much as possible, but don't want to give away usefulness just to look pretty! Thank's for all your help, Bryan.

Re: 1970 K5 Bumpers/ Stock or ?

Anybody else dealt with Kennesaw mt.? I don't have a problem waiting for a custom ordered one, but I do want to get what I order. I am concerned that with the bumper mounted back that far, the winch install may be a problem. Any other venders out there you guy's have dealt with in this area?

Re: 1970 K5 Bumpers/ Stock or ?

I would look local to were you are for a welder/fabracator type shop. With the truck present could come up with a sweet solution..
Warn or Ramsey are my choices at least 9500.
