new family member
I have been looking for a 67-68 model for my son who is in Korea. I spotted this one today just 3 blocks from my house. Price seemed right after some negotiation, so he has a truck waiting for him when he gets back. Needs a couple of rockers, a cab corner and fender bucket. Also has 40 years of bumps and bruises It is a 1 owner, they bought it new in 68 with 8 miles on it. Has 38K on it now. I'm sure it is 238K. 6 cyl and 3 on the tree. Engine rebuilt 8-9 years ago. $750. I was feeling in a charitable mood, especially since it wasn't my money.

Re: new family member
nice solid truck my friend. Should patch up the rockerpanel and drop it, would make one sick ratrod especially with the buisiness decal on the doors.

Re: new family member
Wow. I'm really jealous- not only of the nice looking truck, but looking at those houses in the background I really miss being down in your part of the country and it's warm weather. We've got rain and freezing temps up here.

Re: new family member
Great truck, good price, and your son should be happy. Hey, if it's getting new tires there is a vital ritual that must be performed to ensure the old tires will come off smoothly...
Burnout!!! You or your son (when he returns) need to flex the torque of the six and granny gear and grab some clutch!

Re: new family member
It looks like a nice solid start.
Your son should be happy; ya done good. BTW, around here, $750 would be considered a steal, simply because it runs.

Re: new family member
Put in a cheapo ebay 3 speed shifter. You won't run it through the gears very fast, but it works a lot better than the jimmied up 3 on the tree. Found the original upholstery under 2 recovers. Shined it up a bit and dropped it with a hot wrench.
Yes I know half of you will say "way to keep it old school", and the other half will say it is not safe. To the first half, thanks, I like the old way on alot of things. I'm not much into billet stuff. For the other half of you, Thanks for keeping us in your prayers. I picked up some Clifford headers and manifold for it last week. Just need to get a new carb. Here are the before and after pictures. |

I've got a little something special planned for the shop trucks/patina/rat rod trucks, and I'm trying to get a lot of pics in one spot!

He is in Osan and works on electronics for F-16s and some other aircraft.
He has a new job over there, not sure what it all entails. Last edited by low'n slow; 05-29-2008 at 04:00 AM. |
