Re: Bad Brake Booster?

...sounds kind-of weird to me. but it unplugging the booster from the vacuum makes it better, then thats what i would say the problem is.

Re: Bad Brake Booster?

Usually a bad booster causes the brake pedal to be difficult to depress...not vice-versa. But if disconnecting the vacuum line solves it, then it must be the booster.

Re: Bad Brake Booster?

Could it possibly be the check valve?

Re: Bad Brake Booster?

Hmmm...maybe the check valve is shot, and allowing TOO much vacuum to be pulled on the booster?? This sounds very reasonable to me, and a heck of a lot cheaper to fix!

Re: Bad Brake Booster?

The ckeck valve is the plastic thingy that your vacuum line hooks onto on the booster.

Re: Bad Brake Booster?

The check valve is the plastic piece that the vacuum line connects to on the outside of the booster.

Re: Bad Brake Booster?

???? Did you just replace something.I ask because I am wondering if maybe the pedal is slightly depressed causing the booster/brakes to activate. The brake light switch or the rod out of adjustment? Just some other things to check.

Re: Bad Brake Booster?

the check valve doesn't limit the vacume applied, it prevents the vacume from escaping.
It's a new one by me... but it about has to be the booster.

Re: Bad Brake Booster?

I had a similar problem with a pedal sticking I had to take apart my bracket and lever from behind my booster. I blasted all the parts painted them and never seized them. I then used seal grease and lubed the plunger shaft that is under the boot facing the firewall. This took care of my sticking problem. Good luck

Re: Bad Brake Booster?

bigblockorange, if you were to re-read the actual problem, you'll see that the pedal is not actually sticking, but getting sucked to the floor.
