Taking '69 Burb out of storage
I'm new to this forum and hoping for some help from all the experts here.
My Dad's '69 Suburban has been sitting in the garage for 2 years. I tried starting it but it wouldn't turn over. This vehicle is mint and was running great until my dad became ill. What would be some maintenance ideas to getting her back on the road? Don't want to damage the engine. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks! Lisa |

Check, fill, and or change all fluids that need to be. Make sure the batery is good and has a charge. Check all spark plugs, and the wires and connections to the plugs and they distributor. Check the cap and rotor to see if they ntb replaced. If you have points, take a look at them to make sure they arn't corroded. Last make sure you are getting GOOD FUEL. No water or contaminates in it. Maby change the filters. That should get you going.

TIPS ON STARTING UP YOUR BURB
LISA,
I WOULD PULL THE PLUGS AND SQUIRT SOME MARVEL MYSTERY OIL IN EACH CYLINDER AND PULL THE DISTRIBUTOR AND TAKE A LONG SCREWDRIVER AND SPIN THE OIL PUMP TO MAKE SURE YOU GET THE OIL IN THE MOTOR MOVING AROUND BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY START IT. WHEN MOTORS HAVE SAT A LONG TIME THE OIL DRAINS TO THE BOT. OF THE MOTOR . THIS WOULD BE AFTER YOU REFILL WITH ALL NEW OIL AND ALL FLUIDS. ALSO INSPECT ALL THE HOSES AND BELTS FOR ROT. ALSO IF YOU CAN GET IT TO CRANK OVER I WOULD CRANK THE MOTOR OVER A FEW TIMES WITH THE COIL WIRE PULLED SO IT WONT FIRE UP RIGHT AWAY , THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR THAT IS DRY. GOOD LUCK , DAN
