Burb Radiators

Can anyone tell me if there was a difference in radiators for burbs and trucks???
My burbs original radiator is thicker than the replacement I ordered? Did I get the wrong thing for my 1970 2wd 350/350trans?????

Burbs, p/u's & Blazer radiators are all the same depending on application.

IE: 6 cyl, is one size length fender to fender. All V-8's are the same length fender to fender but the tank and core thickness (2,3 or 4 row core) will be different depending on application, SBC BBC and with or witout A/C.

There will be 2 versions of each size depending on M/T without the transmission cooler or Auto trans with the transmission cooler in the driver side tank.

Ok , So the original radiator I have is thicker than the new one. That being said , if I do not hook up the AC or put the condenser back on the burb , the thinner radiator should provide enough cooling for the engine / trans ?????

Depends on what thickness core you originally had.

If it was a 3 row (2") thick core and now you have a 2 row (1"-1 1/4") thick core and have a good shroud you should be able to get by with it if you do not use the a/c.

If your original rad was a 4 row (2 1/2") thick core you should be ok if the new rad is a 3 row.

Does it fit in the rubber grommets ok or are the new rad tanks narrower than the original rad tanks?

The tank is smaller than the original and should fit ok. I also noticed that the core support I just bought has a smaller set of holders where the radiator sits in the core. The rubber pieces are almost too long to fit in the holders also. Is there a difference in core supports ????

No, core supports are the same 67-68 and 69-72 (someone correct me if I am wrong on this, it may just be the other brackets and what not for the different style hoods).

But the rubber grommets lower & upper are the same length except for the groove in them that the radiator tank to core seam (header) sets down into.

Just get the right rubber grommets for the radiator you are going to use in your burb so that it fits nice and snug.

Ok , all parts are together. Can you tell me if the radiator has a slant to it? In other words , when its sitting in the core support , does the top lean back towards the engine? Will this effect the fan and shroud? My parts look like they are not suppose to go together...........

The upper and lower mounts are different for the 2/3 core and the 4 core.

You have a upper 4-core mount and 2/3 core lower mount and using a 2/3core radiator. That is why you have the tilt.

Ok , but I thought all the core supports were the same????? If I put a wider radiator in the support , it will not fit. When I put the rubber pieces in the bottom mounts and they are too long? With the rubber in the holders for the bottom , and the radiator in place the top brackets will not bolt down flush to the top of the radiator support. The bottom brackets on the old support seemed to be deeper or longer (which ever describes it best) What am I not doing right??????

To put a 4 core raditor in, you need to remove the lower radiator mount and replace them with a set for a 4 core. The lower ones are held in with rivets. Drill them out and put in your new ones.
