Re: clear or blue light

Seeing that I absolutely LOATHE the clear lights, I'd say blue dots, which I'm planning for my beater truck as well!

Hmmmm, I don't see NEITHER as a choice. Also, blue dots are illegal in most if not all states.

Re: clear or blue light

I feel that to pull off clear taillights your truck needs to have an all around custom look to it, i.e. custom paint and that kind of thing. Even then I think it's difficult to not have a ricer look to things so I'd say blue dots. My buddy has a '65 with stock trim and blue dots and I like em a lot, gives off a nostalgic feel with an air of custom to it.

Blue dots are very cool, and I think they are the correct era for our trucks..... AND, not every kid on the block has them

Re: clear or blue light

I agree on it all depens on what look you are going for. If you are going for an old school hot rod look... a rat rod look, or a classic custom... then blue dots.
If youa re doing the modorn thing, bug wheels, low stance, smoothed out.. then the clear would do.
The clears are illegal per federal law, and the dots are just illegal in most states.

Re: clear or blue light

SEMA has been trying to help end o ease the blue-dot bans in some states. Might check with them and see if yours is one of them.

Re: clear or blue light

if the blue dots are illegal in my province then its no big deal, the guy im ordering from charges $12 + shipping, so its not a real $$ loss

Re: clear or blue light

I'm on the fence mainly because I don't really like the blue dots (personal preference), but clear lenses are a dime a dozen. Now I can see your delima... As mentioned above be sure to check out your DOT regs before you install the dots.

Re: clear or blue light

Im with Brad sorta on this one. Blue dots are legal in lots of states depending on the year of the vehicle. They first became semi popular in the late 40s. Ive seen tail light display pictures from stores in that era that have them. They were a fairly popular accessory item through the 50's and early 60's. Putting them on one of our trucks has always seemed kinda weird to me...might as well hang a raccoon tail off the antenna =) Ive never liked the clear lights at all...But you know what? This isn't my truck its yours. Put whatever you want on there that makes you happy. Heck look at the canopy I just put on my 4x4, lol, hardly a popular choice.

Re: clear or blue light

NEITHER!!
Slue dots hake a cool effect, but are a 50s thing and just don`t fit in with or trucks. They also don`t look as clean as "just left alone".Clear lenses? Not into`00 fads on`60s-`70s vehicles.
