Re: How do I??

I will try to find some of the other post on here... but you can always do that yourself if you have a moment... More often than not someone has asked the question once before.
Also on this board most of us don't want to cut into the side of the bed. We are trying to patch those big holes up. But like my truck had 16 gallon saddle tanks. If i can get pics i will send them... also look for parts for sale, someone may be selling something you could use.

Welcome to the Site and take some time to check out what all these great guys do to make this an awesome place for information and chat!

Welcome to the board! If you were to do a search you would come up with all sorts of results. This is the same thing that I have been looking into, and I have seen in the LMC catalog the conversion kit for relocating your gas tank. I am with Michael12 on the part of wanting to patch up the holes. I would move the filler to inside the bed, onto the floor pan. Good luck!

Re: How do I??

I did a blazer tank with an 88-98 silverado fuel door.

Re: How do I??

I found the LMC kit but it does not come with the door. I have search all over this site and have not found what I want. I want a square-ish door like on my K5, I just think it would look the best. So, if I just put it in the bed then I would just reach inside to fill up?? I guess this could work.

I saw a pic of a yellow and white 72 ( I think) with the door I'm thinking of but I can't seem to find it now.

Re: How do I??

I bought the door from a junkyard. They had to cut it out for me. The filler necks were different diameters so I welded some different sized muffler pipes to the filler neck on the tank (before it ever had a drop of gas put in it) to make up the difference.

There's a good bit of fabrication to make it all work together. It was worth it. Several people have asked me why my truck didn't have the tank in the cab like other trucks they've seen that "look like mine." I just smile and say "I moved it."

Here's a couple pics of it all together:

Re: How do I??

Thank you 67ChevyRedneck .... Just called my local salvage and they have a 84 Chevy 1/2 ton that I can cut the door out of. With your build info I think I can do it.

I always say ... "If you don't know what you're doing, ask someone that does"!!

Oops, my mistake. I wasn't thinking about the filler door. Sorry. But I am sure that one can be designed or grafted fairly easily. I will be keeping my eye on this thread, I just might catch a good idea from here also.
