Who's in the Houston area?

Just about everytime I see a really nice truck on here--I look to see where the owner is from and Texas is normally what I find. Just kind of curious who all is from the Houston area. And wondering if there is a Saturday night cruise destination that any of you frequent. Just sound out what part of town your from.
I live in Dayton and work in Humble.
Thanks

Re: Who's in the Houston area?

I am from the Tomball area, the cruise night I go to most is saturday night Kroger parking lot at the corner of Spring-Cypress and Champions Forest drive, it is put on by the Niftee's Fiftee's car club and they only allow 1979 and below into the show, but the rest of the parking lot of full of other cars.

I'm in Texas but I'm from the College Station area. I usually try to 'play' where the cops aren't for obvious reasons

Re: Who's in the Houston area?

Cypress is out 290 isn't it? How far outside the Beltway is that? I really want to see your truck. You have a Blazer also--right?

Captkaos--Thanks that is what I was looking for. I couldn't find it.
I wish I would have known about that swap meet though.

Re: Who's in the Houston area?

Yes, Cypress is out 290 West past Hwy 6. Right now my 77 is sitting in the garage collecting dust. I hope to have it rolling again soon.

I do own an 82 C/K 2wd Blazer. It is a long term project that is at Stoked Out Specialties in Rockwall, TX.

I'm in NW Houston, but I know that's not my truck you're talking about. Maybe one day it will be nice.

Re: Who's in the Houston area?

So, where is the place to be this weekend? It's been awhile and I would love to congregate with some fellow gearheads this weekend since I might finally have some time.

N2TRUX, I don't know if I would touch that Blazer. I would rock that just how it is. But I'm confident from your other truck that it will be awesome.

Re: Who's in the Houston area?

The Blazer looked good then, and it was solid as a rock, but it needed to be restored. It had spent most of it's day's baking in the hot Texas sun. The paint was flaking off, and it had just begun to surface rust. The interior plastic was brittle and falling apart, and the 305 was tired after 230k miles.

Someday it will be reseructed to it's glory days, until then I'll just enjoy my old 77 Cheyenne...

Re: Who's in the Houston area?

I'm right on the NW corner of Houston about a block form the Tomball city limits and about a block from Spring> I see all those Nifty Fifties cars at Kroger almost every Sarurday night. Been over there once or twice to walk around and look.

Re: Who's in the Houston area?

Well, my two neighbors drove their vette and trans am, and I drove the Mustang out this weekend. I went to Seabrook and very few cars were there, they said the place to be was Westhiemer and Hwy 6. So we drove,a nd another guy in a TA followed us all the way there. Keep in mind that we live in Dayton. Westhiemer and Hwy 6 sucked worse than anything has ever sucked before. Nothing but junk--not even halfway cool ricers. About 200 of them. I could count the nice cars on one hand and we drove most of them. And I am pretty tolerable about other cars. Then they went into there drifter/burnout/almost hit people/want to fight routine.
Is that what it has come too around here??
Despite everything I did have fun just cruising with a few nice cars all the way through town.

Re: Who's in the Houston area?

Kingwood here, welcome to the board!

There's a meet down in Atascocita ever Saturday evening. If you're working in Humble you might be familiar with the location. It's in the parking lot next to the 24 Hour Fitness on 1960 (across from the new Kohl's and Target going in). I stopped by a few weeks ago and they had nearly 4 rows of cars/trucks parked. I drove by this past Saturday but didn't stop; smaller turnout but probably on account of it being Memorial Day Weekend.

Some dude whose there sometimes has probably the baddest version of one of our trucks I've ever seen in person...Big block drag truck in midnight blue. Man is it sweet.

Re: Who's in the Houston area?

Yeah, I am familiar. And yeah there are a couple of nice cars that can be seen there. But, I can only look as so many high dollar restored chevelles, and camaros with 502s and giant blowers sticking through the hood shoehorned in there just so they can make there one trip a week to the 24hr fitness parking lot for the GoodGuys meet. It's pretty much the same 15 old guys driving there same old hotrod that have been going there for years. But I have never seen the truck that you are talking about--I'll have to keep an eye out.
Let me know if it has changed though.

Re: Who's in the Houston area?

Oh, and I have planned to stop there a few times--like on my way to see a movie or something. They are always gone by the time I get there. I think they normally shut it down around 8:30. How lame.

Yeah, I know the guys you're talking about. Nice cars but looking at the same Camaro every week does get old. I guess it depends on which week you go. Like I said, there was a ton of people there a couple of weeks back and they had about 4 rows going including a bunch of stuff I'd never seen before including 3 or 4 of our trucks. Then this past Saturday was thinned out so I didn't stop although I could see that dude with the drag truck was there.
