Ignition Switch Spacer for a 67??
Ok, I just tried to order a new ignition switch and cylinder w/keys from LMC because they are a couple dollars cheaper but yet again I get this girl on the phone that knows even less about these trucks than me....and I dont know SQUAT!!
http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/CB/t.aspx?Page=46 So I start giving her part #'s: 36-046 Ignition Switch for a 67-72 then I get to : 38-8271 Ignition switch spacer and it says its for a 68-72 so I ask, do they have one for a 67? is it different? or do I not need it for a 67 being that its not listed??? Her responce is, "Well I cant tell you, I can only see what you see in the book" So I think back to a post I read just a few minutes ago and remembered why I never order from LMC.... As someone called it, FACELESS CUSTOME SERVICE (or something like that) SOOOOOO, can one of your GURU's tell me....do I need that SPACER for a 67? If so will that one work, or do I need to find something different?? I wish I had my truck, Id go out and look at it.....but my truck is over in another garage! THANKS!! |

I know where there is one on a junk yard truck I can probably get you in the next couple of days if you need one. Let me know.

Here is a thread by John Fabris that shows the difference in the parts & dashes. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=178907 It's in the FAQ section..... LockDoc

Re: Ignition Switch Spacer for a 67??
I have a question. It appears that I have a 68 or later ignition switch(because it has a acc position) but I have a 67 only bezel. My truck is a 67 with a 67 hole for the ignition(exactly the same as the picture in the thread) I ordered a 68-72 spacer in hopes that it would fit. The spacer will not go over the switch properly. Do you have any pictures with the spacer installed so that I can figure out what I really have. I am planning on getting a 67 only ignition switch with spacer and bezel so that I dont have to modify the ignition hole. I don't have a problem modifing the hole but the spacer is not working with my current ignition and i would need to get a 68-72 bezel, any thoughts? Thanks a bunch!

Other than the Acc position the switches are all the same, so all you have to do is find a 67 spacer and bezel and you should be good to go. I don't think the 67 spacer is reproduced but the bezel is. You can't post a wanted to buy but if you do a search on the "parts for sale" board and type in Bezel you may come up with one. If you find one for sale you can buy it. LockDoc

Re: Ignition Switch Spacer for a 67??
what i did on my 67 was took a 68-72 and cut it down to size it was a bit tricky to get it the way i wanted it but it worked great just remember to take off a little bit at a time you can always take more off ,plus i had like three unused ones laying around free is always the best way
