front fender gaskets?

I have ordered up a set of the front fender gaskets ,as they are called, from Brothers Truck. Does anyone have a picture of how these mount up? Are there any anti-squeak rubber shims or the such that mount up under the mounting points of the fenders to the cab?
Thanks

Re: front fender gaskets?

I have not heard of fender gaskets. Can you describe them and let us know where they are used?

The only thing that comes to mind arre the fender to cab seals.

Re: front fender gaskets?

there are big ones that are shaped like the rear of the fender and smaller ones that look like a large circle about the size of a plum.......anyway here is a picture of them

Re: front fender gaskets?

I am unsure of the small round ones but the larger ones I have seen on a few GMC's and I think I heard they were used on Blazers.
There is a metal bracket that the rubber is attached to (with staples) that is no longer produced
Someone on this board made up a few Left and right metal brackets and was offering to make and sell them a while back.
Installation is:
Basically you take the seal and attach to the bracket that is attached to the cab with small metal screws in the area between the back of the fender and in between the door.
It was a way to keep the dust out of the door hinge area
From what I have seen they are kind of rare as not all trucks have or had them

Hope that helps

Re: front fender gaskets?

From what I have seen there is no rhyme or rhythm to the trucks that had them. They don’t really serve much purpose and are a pain to install on the original brackets and I have heard they can rub spots on the paint if not done absolutely correct. I would not use them. JMO.

Re: front fender gaskets?

They came on my truck. It is a 72 Jimmy 2wd with Cheyanne package and air (if that means anything). Since the lower part of the cab was replaced in that area during paint, I had to locate and drill holes for the new rubber. I just posted this topic about 2 weeks ago. I had a gentleman from this forum tell me they only came on air trucks... that 69CST above puts the end to that theory. Im still thinking of taking them off. I just wanted them on for authenticity. Most of my buddies just laugh at me for that because of my drivetrain. Its altered some.

Re: front fender gaskets?

CST/ Cheyenne/Super/Sierra/Grande had them originally, they serve to seal engine compartment heat and dust similar items on new model trucks. The small "plum" shaped pieces mount one at the top one at the bottom of the metal bracket. The staples that are sent with them are a pain in the a** to use, I use a heavy staple like you might use to hold insulation in place in your house. They are side specific so you should lay them out and look at the old ones if possible for reference if nt be sure you look at the brackets as I think they are marked left and right. Hope this clears up any confusion, if not I can get some pictures tomorrow. Not found "only" on air trucks but upper option package trucks.

Re: front fender gaskets?

Classic Parts has them... looks like "Deluxe pickups only" here is their description...

"Die-stamped rubber seals that fit between the rear edge of the front fender & cab. Originally used on deluxe pickups only."

Re: front fender gaskets?

I checked the link to the ones pictured on Classic Industries..................................Brothers only shipped me 2 of the ovals and NO staples.....................I hate to pass on a problem to someone else. I am going to call Brothers and send them back.

life is too short to try and figure this one out!
