Re: engine...
I never knew that.For some reason I thought it was a 400 with a 350 crank.I`ve never heard a bored 350 called anything but a 350 bored .xx over.I guess that`s because they either said 350 bored .30 over or called it a 355.

Re: engine...
A stock bore 400 (4.125") with a 350 (3.48") crank gives you 372 (+.030= 377)
The formula: bore x bore x stroke x .7854 x # of cylinders |

Re: engine...
As long as it uses the stock 350 crank.
Use a 400 crank, and you've got a 383.

Re: engine...
I never did the figuring.I just never heard anyone call a motor anything other than what it started out as plus what oversize they put on the bore until recent years.I always figured by renaming the motor meant it was a custom build, such as changing stroke by swapping cranks/rods.I just learned something, though.Guy`s shave heads, cut tops off pistons,bore,stroke...You almost have to follow a displacement figure with how you got there.
You can completely build a motor and not know what the actual displacement is.You still need to know math, though.

Re: engine...
Generally when asked about the engine in the "Pink Thing", I'll say 355. If they say, "never heard of that" , I'll tell 'em "that's a 350 bored .030". They say "oh". Asking questions, that's how I learned most of this stuff. I realize now, as a young teenager, I drove the older guys in the neighborhood crazy with questions.
