Factory color of Trans and transfer case????

Does anyone know what the factory color of the trans and transfer case is???

TC was red. See some of the pix in this thread. You can see the red under the grease...

ya red, it was like a primer red color not real bright.

Someone stated in thread on 4x4 board that trans (4 speed) was also red. The one in my truck looked like a grey- almost a shock (putty grey) color as did the T-case. I was also told that the red on the t-case was closer to chrysler red/primer color. I will be painting both trans and case the red flat primer color leaving the pto cover and the associated aluminum covers raw or gm grey for contrast.

Thats what I was wondering because mine done look like they have ever had any color the just looked like they were cast grey color.

I remember reading off of here that the actual paint code for the NP205 (don't know about the Dana 20) was a Chrysler color, because "back in the day" Chrysler either owned all of or a controlling interest in New Process gear.
