1/2 ton and 3/4 ton 2wd control arm q?
Is there any differance in the mounting of the two controls? I'm looking to convert my 3/4 to 1/2 and may or may not replace the control arms depending on how they look after being blasted. if they mount the same and I am replacing them just figured it would be easiest to use all 1/2 ton parts.
thanks, Dave |

CCP and some others sell spindes both stock and drop that bolt right on. But if your going to change the control arms I'd just get some used half ton spindes. I have some stock spindes if you do need them.

Re: 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton 2wd control arm q?
!/2 and 3/4 ton arms are different, but use the same control arm bushing, so get 1/2 ton stuff and it will all fit. I am actually going the other way in my crazy love child 72 2wd build. I bought a 72 2wd Blazer out of a wrecking yard so the rear 5-lug 3:73 posi was long gone!! I had a Dana 60 coil sprung 8-lug rear I put under it so it would roll, then sold the 5-lug disc front end figuring I'd buy lowered spindles and slotted rotors. Fast forward a few months and I now need a back surgery (6/10) and since I'll be laid up for 6-8 weeks I decided to use the 3/4 ton disc front end to get it road worthy before the surgery. The upper shaft is different though, as the 3/4 ton one has a dished spot where the bolt goes into the crossmember, so just get a 3/4 ton upper shaft and use the 3/4 ton upper A-arm with 1/2 ton upper ball joint, then the upper a-arm should work. In my case I had to use 1/2 ton upper control arm bushing as the Blazer is a 1/2 ton. Good luck, PM me if you need any other info as I am knee deep in it right now and can answer your questions.

yea i'm aware of the spindles to use 1/2 ton hardware. but in the event that mine are rustier than i'd like to use and have to buy new should i buy 1/2 control arms with 1/2 ton spindles or use 3/4 controls with conversion spindles
