Which Hitch?

I did a search and didn't find an answer to my question.

My neighbor has a 78 Suburban that he's parked. It has a heavy duty Class III/IV hitch on it. I can get it cheap (free ) but I don't know if it will fit.

Will this hitch from a 78 Sub fit my 70 Stepside pickup frame or do I need a different hitch?

Anyone have the correct number/brand that will fit?

Re: Which Hitch?

I took a 78 Blazer hitch and put it on my old 72 suburban. Only thing I had to do was drill a couple of hole in the frame. The frame was the same wideth but it sat alittle bit lower than I would have liked.
I'd say if it's free take it and see, all your out is time.

Re: Which Hitch?

I put an ECE 67-72 'hidden-hitch' set-up on my 74 & it only had to be modified slightly because of the leaf spring bracket(s).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Which Hitch?

I bought mine from JC Whitney, name brand class 3 for around $120 shipped. Supposed to be a direct bolt on, needless to say I did end up drilling a couple holes and use either lock nuts or lock washers with a dab of Loc-tite!
