72 core support on a 68?

I was tearing into my 68 today and noticed that my core support was gone and I was wondering if a 72 support would work and what mods if needed would need to be done since i have acouple laying around. Thanks for the help.

It will bolt in... but your headlight buckets won't be in the correct place. It's 67-68 & 69-72 for chevrolets.... GMC's are all the same I think... (you'll have to double check me on the GMC's)

Re: 72 core support on a 68?

72 core support is the same as 68 if you remove the added buckets for the 72. But you will have to add the holes for the headlight adjustments and spring and may have massage the are around the light opening. Get them close to each other and you can see what need to have happen for the lights.

Re: 72 core support on a 68?

Yeah. you can MAKE it work if you are determined and willing to work at it.

One other thing is the 72 support won't have the tapped holes to mount the 68 splash guard. I've seen trucks without the guard before so it's not a big deal.

Re: 72 core support on a 68?

I think either one would be about the same amount of work... Both have buckets that would need to be removed. I can't think of any reason why one would be easier than the other except the gmc may have more spotwelds to remove the buckets.

Good luck, Rg
