tranny swap

took this out this weekend (1st pic) to replace it with this (2nd pic)

My question is about the crossmember. It is called a hi-mount crossmember. Does this mean it goes on the upper portion of the frame? or above the frame? Any pics would be great of how you guys did a 350 to 700r4 swap.
I checked out the faq's and such but can't find any pics. I will post pics if I can on the faq section once mine is in. Thanks for the help all!!

Re: tranny swap

Got to looking at it and thinking about it. I think I need to mount it on the bottom of the frame rails so that it pushes the back of the tranny up. Does this sound right? Anyone?

Will try putting it in this afternoon. But so far, everything else has gone great with the install.

Re: tranny swap

Who did you get the trany from, looks great, hows there pricing. I'm thinking if you get the trany bolted in you can figure out how the crossmember mounts, most likely inside the bottom of the frame. Good Luck.. You will like the overdrive.

Re: tranny swap

based on what i am seeing of the xmember... looks like it goes onto the lower side of the frame..... you might contact the provider..... they should be happy to provide answers.

Re: tranny swap

Raining here tonight so have to put off the crossmember install. Also called BTO and was told it goes on the lower part of the frame. To kind of push the trans up.

It's the Bowtie Overdrive 700r4 setup. Got the trans, 1800 stall converter, crossmember, all necessary wiring and brackets. Everything!! Paid a little over 2k for it, but with a waranty, it's peace of mind.

Gulf Rat, glad to see someone else in southern Miss. My goal is to have it driving and reliable for Cruisin The Coast in Oct. U gonna be there?

Joe
