Disc Brake Pads

I'm just about done with the front end suspension and brake conversion on my truck but was not sure about how the outer disc brake pad goes on. Everything I have read says to bend the tabs over from the pad onto the caliper. Is this right? Does anyone have any pics? Thanks.

Re: Disc Brake Pads

It slips over the caliper. You have to tap the tabs in a litttle so they fit snug.
I have the same model truck & the same model Buick. Awesome power. I have read they will do 0-60 in 6.6 but didn't know about the quarter mile times. People see this bald headed old man in a Buick & figure they will get in another lane & shoot ahead when the light changes. Wrong.

Re: Disc Brake Pads

I took some pictures of one of my calipers. I wanted to make sure I was doing this right. Is this the tab that needs to be bent? It was already bent like this when I got it, should it be bent more?

Re: Disc Brake Pads

Grab a large pair of channel locks (multi-groove pliers) and squeeze! Or you could bend the tab with a hammer and test fit until the pad "snaps" in.

I always used the channel locks. The first time it seemed weird, but now it is just second nature.

Re: Disc Brake Pads

Sometimes I put a large screwdriver under the pad and pry up while hitting the tab with a hammer. You bend the tab to prevent the pads from (clicking)

Re: Disc Brake Pads

Great! Thanks for all the help guys. It does seem a little weird that there are no springs or clips to hold it in.
