Talk me out of this please!!!!

I am out of town working and my neighbor across the street gave me a call and wanted to know if I wanted to buy his 84 burb. It is a 454/th400 combo ps and a/c powertrain was rebuilt 30k ago and runs well. No rust but has been a work truck for years tailgate and doors are good as well as the hubcaps interior is trash. He then shoots me a price of $400 and pay him when ever just wants it out of his drive.

How bad will it be to use this set up on a 67 SWB frame. I am really tempted to do this let me know what you think, you guys know a heck of a lot more than me

Talk me out of this please!!!!

Hell no I won't!
A running 454, even in need of a rebuild is almost worth the $400.

But that's just my .02.

Re: Talk me out of this please!!!!

I forget what crowd I am asking to help me If I am going to do this how big of a mess am I in for and can some one give me a few links to conversion threads. Maybe that will make me see the light.

I think a 3/4 ton burb prob has a scrap value close to what he wants right so no risk if the motor sucks????

Re: Talk me out of this please!!!!

a complete running 454 needing rebuilt (which this one supposedly does NOT need) is worth 400 bucks.
Rust free parts on a 73 - 87 are hard to find except in so-cal, arizona and nevada... so there's lots of money there
what ever you don't sell is worth 170 bucks a ton
You've already spent the $25 to sell parts on here.
If you have the $400, and the space, there is NO WAY you can not make money, and have a free big block to boot.

Re: Talk me out of this please!!!!

I know Andy I think she will make the journey across the street. This should be fun the wife is still pissed off at me for dragging the 67 home 5 months ago. Now to sell the 292 from the 71 and the 350/350 combo I had for the rebuild of the 67.

Now what other parts do I need to do this conversion? Can I use the 84 motor mounts and place it in the stock v-8 position? Sorry never thought I would be doing this

Re: Talk me out of this please!!!!

And nobody's even mentioned the tranny!

And between all of us, we could probably come up with the name of a very good divorce lawyer!

Just have him call my exwife
I'm kidding, we hade a very good divorce and get along better now than ever. But it's still fun to make jokes about it.

There was a thread just a few days ago about someone useing 73 - 87 towers and mounts and saying he couldn't get it to work in a narrow frame 67. however, with some creativity, i can't see how you couldn't make it work.
