Re: wiring question
The only thing I can see is if your sensors are in a different location. Then the new harness may not mach up.
You probably don't have anyway to tell for sure what's different. You might just have to get one and extend any wires that don't match. s/t

Re: wiring question
Well as far as the engine the only thing you need to make it run is a starter wire (which should be in the same place since its still a GM motor) looks like you have an HEI on there. No wire for that in the factory harness anyway. and the alternator wiring which is long enough to run the alternator on either side. Usually if your running an externally regulated one and its working run it. If not switch to a single wire alt (add the wire) and run it to the battery following the factory harness over to the batt.
So rewiring your truck will fix other wiring issues but as far as the engine I don't think it is going to matter which engine you have in there you will be making or extending the same wires either way. but one other thing those fenders and that core support aren't going to work together. I did the same thing, Almost ready for paint and thanks to Andy I looked into closer. Those fenders wont work with the GMC grill that goes with that 4 headlight set up. Should probably pick 2 headlights or 4 before your wiring the headlights.

Re: wiring question
All you need for the HEI is 12v+ ign power to make it work. On the cap there is a square part that sticks off and has two terminals under it. The cap should be labeled in the plastic molding 12+(or batt)/tach. Thats it. just make sure you don't have 12v+ when ign is off or you will burn it up pretty quickly.
