where to learn upholstery basics
so i'm starting to plan the interior for my truck and am planning to do as much of it myself as i can. I was curious if anyone has a link or 3 that they'd like to share with me for sites that give info on the "how to's" of upholstery work.
I'm sure i could figure out a basic door panel pretty easily, but a i'll probably leave the seat to a professional. I'd just like to learn some of the tips and tricks of building console's and door panels and what not. |

Just do it yourself.
Just pay attention how things are put together when your taking it apart. I had NO exp. when I did my buckets and rear bench and they turned out fine. Don't be afraid to try it.You may surprise yourself. Before. After. Link to ALL the pic's HERE

Re: where to learn upholstery basics
Go check out one of the bigger bookstores. They usually have something in that category.

Re: where to learn upholstery basics
check out a local community college in your area. One local to me offers an Adult Continuing Education course on upholstery. It's a non-credit course that last 6 weeks - 1 night a week. It teaches the basics and is only about $300.
P.S. let me know if you're in the market for a nice upholstery sewing machine. |

Re: where to learn upholstery basics
i doubt i'll get so far as needing an upholstery machine. I'm just kicking around the idea of making some nice door panels and a console. maybe covering the dash pad as well. I'm thinking about going with some sort of leather material.
just in the planning stage for now. thx for the links, i'll check them out tonight. |

Re: where to learn upholstery basics
As much as i don't have the time to do this, it looks like i'll be doing my own interior as well to save cash. I'll be reading up on the links as well.
