Brake booster spare parts ???

Took the booster off of our 70 C20 to do some cleanup. The felt washer was outside on the rod where you could see it. The star washer was inside, but loose. Is there a problem here ? Should there be a rubber boot over all of this ??

Yes, there is a rubber boot that goes over the shaft assembly. I just took one off a spare booster to replace the one on my truck. A new one is about $9.00. I'll look at the booster tomorrow to see how the star washer fits and post the findings.

I noticed this is a fairly large diameter booster, don't C20's use a smaller diameter booster ? Wonder if it has been replaced ?

Here is a picture of the booster with the rubber cover. The star ring is defintley holding something inside. Looks like it wraps over a ring. I pulled on it and it does not move. Maybe you can zoom in on the picture for a better look.

Took a good look tonight and there is NO WAY that washer will fit under the tabs, the diameter is too big to leave any room between the bent over tabs and the plastic outside if I could even get it in there, The OD of the washer is the same as the ID of the tube, no room for tabs. We tryed for about 15 minutes to work it down there and it's a no go.

The booster was working fine when we pulled it so I guess I am going to resit the urge to fix it until I break something !!!

BTW - anyone have a good idea or pics of what color to paint it, I'm not going to buy expensive Eastwood stuff, soif anyone has some ideas that would be great.
