Do you remember your first Love??
Ok been hanging out here for a while and just had to share. I owned a 1967 LWB, It was my first love!!! had it for years, got married, had kids, and guess what was the first thing to go! Well 15-18 years later, kids all grown, even one grandaughter, and the wife decides to stop at some dam yard sale, a couple of towns over. As we pull into the drive way an old Chev catches my eye? Could it be? Sure looks like her? So after checking her out and working a deal with the latest owner, I baught her back!!! I brought her home last night and cant wait to start building her up. I will post some pictures tonight, all of the ones i have were before digital camera's .

Let me be the first to say;
Welcome to the board! That is an awesome story. Not very many people get a second chance at things... you are a lucky man. And yes... we need photos! Is it still in good shape? Any bastardization going on from the previouse owner(s)? ham fisted hot rodders or mickey mouse electricians? Last edited by Longhorn Man; 06-24-2008 at 04:29 PM. |

Re: Do you remember your first Love??
I remember my first love, and my first vehicle. It was a 1969 K-10. Light blue.
I was smart enough to never sell it. I still have it, and I tell my wife to bury me in it.

'55 1st series.*It was beat, but definitely a lot of fun.* Lots of stories from High School, but that would probably take too long.

Re: Do you remember your first Love??
Still have mine!
I got it when I was 15….that was 21 years ago. I burnt up two small blocks, two big blocks, one TH400 and one Dana 60 in this thing....and that was just in High School. It looks a little different now though than it did in 1987. It could use some more modern tyres and wheels though.

Re: Do you remember your first Love??
My first Chevy was a 61 Apachie 10.LWB 235 6cylinder 3 speed on the tree. Converted her over to SBC with 465 4 speed, that was a project and a half different mounts, bell clutch pedals, linkage, drive shaft thought it would never end. First motor 307,followed quickly by a 283 for about 4 or 5 years then a 350 4 bolt 4 barrall truck motor. Then about 5 years after that I put that 350 in my 66 C60 and wound up buying a 62 GMC K20 and spapping my body on to it.She was also the first truck [or car] I did a frame off resteration to.Back in 85 there wern't all the cool patch panels like you can get now, the only repro parts I could get was the front floor supports and the rockers and they didnt even have the corners on the top ,had to make the floors and everthing else from sheet metal. Still got her here but I never got her back together all the way after the 4 x 4 swap mabey someday .

Re: Do you remember your first Love??
Thats awesome man, mine was a 83 or 84 Corvette, I was six or seven and was helping my dad hang some screens at the local chevy dealership. When I say helping I was his gopher, go fer this and go fer that, but I kept checking out the new Corvette on the showroom floor. The salesmen there were so impressed with my tast at a young age they gave my a model Corvette. I must have painted that thing about 10 times before I was 14. Funny thing now is that probaly is my least favorite corvette body style.

Re: Do you remember your first Love??
My first love is laying in bed after her surgery last Friday...
We dated in high school (that was 1986) we broke up for 17 years... got married in 2003. Our 5 year anniv will be Nov of this year... And for vehicles... My first love was a 1965 Chevelle Convertible Red with White top & Black interior. My wife and I first dated in that car. I guess it's still in town, but I never see it.

Re: Do you remember your first Love??
Here,s my first love. My dad bought it for me in 1978 for $450.00 I was sixteen. Me and my wife dated in this car. I drove 3 of my 4 children home from the hospital before parking it in 1989. In 2000 I started a frame off resto. it is now drivable but still under construction. Its definately not a truck but definately my first love of a vehicle. Oh by the way my little brother's name is Vance H. also.

Re: Do you remember your first Love??
Car wise here is my first love. Its a 1972 Chevelle Malibu. I'm the third and final owner. I bought it 2 weeks before I had a driver's license. That was 1984. It was a daily driver - summer only - until 1994. Now, like KevsClassics did, it is waiting for a frame off. I'm going to build another shop later this summer, heat the shop, and have a place to putz on it all winter long.

Re: Do you remember your first Love??
Mine was when I was 12. My dads girlfriend needed a truck. He went shopping for a truck with her and brought home a 1972 GMC k20 LWB. I begged for that truck while growing up and she promised to sell it to me when she no longer needed it to go to the dump or get to work in the winter. I ended up buying another one while still waiting for it when I was 23. I sold it during a slow down at work. THEN IT HAPPENED. she called me up and told me I could have it for 4k. Without hesitation I bought it and brought it home. I knew it now had alittle rust. I got some doors and sent it over to a buddy for paint. After tearing into it. There was nothing left under that paint holding it together. I scrapped the body. Used the frame for parts and am using it to put together the one I have now. However, not many parts left from that ol truck.
This is 2001 the day I picked it up.
