71 bumper with 67-68 front?

I'm going for a clean(er) look and I have a 71 bumper laying around and was wondering if i could use that bumper instead of the 67-68 bumper, or would it not fit right? id rather have the signals in the bumper than the grille.

Yes, you can use that bumper- a couple guys around here have the same setup. It looks great BTW. The only thing I would suggest is to find another top grill insert (without the reliefs for the lights) and swap it out for the bottom one.

Re: 71 bumper with 67-68 front?

No, he is talking about the pieces that are pop-riveted to the back side of the openings along the bottom; the part that makes the grill look thick, and not just a piece of sheetmetal. The one for the bottom opening has a relief and holes for mounting the signal/direction lights. Since they are the same otherwise, get another top one and rivet it in place of the lower one to complete your cleaner look.

someone stop me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure you will need different outer bumper brackets as well.

You are correct sire. The outer brackets need tobe longer to clear the spot for the turn signal light openings.

Nice truck! I was checking out your build pics too, very cool.

As for the bumper, hum... I am out on if I like it better or not. Nothing wrong with what you did, just not used to seeing the lights in the bumper on '67/68's.

Re: 71 bumper with 67-68 front?

I pulled the signals from my grille and used signals in my headlights, plus hooked up the front sidemarkers to flash as well. I used the H4 lights with the single 194 LED bulb. To do it again, I'd pony up the $$ and get these:
