1950 Chevy 3100 gearbox

Hey guys, I'm a newbie to these trucks. I am trying really hard to keep it original, but I'm having an awful hard time finding a gearbox for my 1950 Chevy 3100. I found one on ebay, but no garuantee it works any better than the one I have now (which doesn't work). Is there anybody out there who sells rebuilt ones? Or anyone who has a rebuilt/working one that I can get my hands on?! I've been stuck for three months looking, as have two mechanic friends I have. Any help would be much appreciated!!
