Sliding Rear Glassn for '72 Model P/U

How many of you guys are running sliding rear glass on your truck? I am looking to get one but not sure what brand to look for. I want one that opens way up and haven't really seen what is available yet.

Re: Sliding Rear Glassn for '72 Model P/U

I've got a sliding rear window, but I hope to change in the future. Check out my cardomain page in my signature, and I think I have a pretty good shot of it on page 2.

Why you wanting to change it? Is there something bad about having one in these trucks?

Re: Sliding Rear Glassn for '72 Model P/U

There's nothing bad with having one, as a matter of fact, the dog loves it! I just prefer the look of a solid rear window vs. the slider.

Everyone is free to run whatever they want on their trucks, so only take my words like a grain of salt...

Any pics of your truck?

I've got one, I like it a lot. Helps cool down the cab some, being as my AC don't work.

Re: Sliding Rear Glassn for '72 Model P/U

I've had three pickups with rear sliding glass and I like it. Nice to quickly remove hot air from the cab.

Be aware that you don't want to use it when hauling a load of manure/mulch/fertilizer down the road...

Heres mine. It was in the 72 I had got for parts.

It does bring more air flow thru the truck.

Re: Sliding Rear Glassn for '72 Model P/U

My Dad's '71 has one, and I've got a deep tinted one sitting on the shelf that will go in my '68 K10. They definitely help keep the air flowing, and I second the part about the dog loving it.

Yea, it got a little hail damage a few weeks back and I turned it in to StateFarm ($1500 for hood/roof straighten/repaint/blend fenders) and they just called and are trying to see if it is a total loss, they are trying to determine a salvage value and wanted all the options which it is a stripper model with I6/3OTT/No-AC, I told them I had it insured at a flat rate of $4500 and they are going to contact the local agent because they are saying it is worth $3000, keep in mind this is a 77k original mile, 1 repaint truck. I am going to laugh if they call me saying it is totaled, I guess if they would have made it with beer cans like this new stuff they could do thier paintless repair and it wouldn't be but like $400 worth of repairs.

Re: Sliding Rear Glassn for '72 Model P/U

I am working to make the 68 truck's rear window "Pop Out" at the bottom on the project. I am using a hinge and latch set from another Chevy product and had the rear glass cut, drilled for mounting hardware, and tempered for strength. I like the fresh air, but wanted something different than the usual slider.
