Under construction again...

I posted in the Welcome forum, but I think a lot of you probably check this one more often. Here is my truck as it currently sits in my new 30x30 shop. Doesn't look quite like it use to.

Re: Under construction again...

i think that's the first 67-72 with a non 67-72 bed that i actually like. i think it's because of the cowl hood or the grill. I also like that the step lines up with the body line. Great truck there man. What are you future plans with it?

Re: Under construction again...

So why did you take it back apart? What are you plans.

Any chance you want to get really custom and match the front and rear wheel arches?
I have yet to see that done.

Nice truck either way.

I agree. Not really MY style, but you made it work! I'm scared to think of what you're up to now

TCB-1.... I want the other half! It would sure be nice not having to slide around stuff all day trying to work on my truck!

Re: Under construction again...

Well, to tell the truth, I kind of wrecked the truck at a car show in late '05. I hit my tow pig pulling in to a parking spot. It nicked the front fender and dented the grille shell. Not too bad. There were a lot of things on the truck I wish I had done a different way, so I was going to do that. Then a lot of other things happened such as an additional family member and a new house, so the truck was put on hold. Now that I have the new shop and some spare time, I'm putting it back together.

Honestly, I didn't think I was going to like the bed originally either. I had seen quite a few just thrown on the truck, and just stuck out like a sore thumb. That's why I tried make every change possible to make it "fit". I think the only thing left would be the arch on the fenderwells, which honestly I don't think enough people notice to justify the amount of work involved.

The shop is definitely a blessing. Four years of college paid off for something I guess.

Re: Under construction again...

well, if i could quit excepting other projects to work on, i might get some work done on my own. i've had two mustangs in the shop. me and my grandfather restored the blue one for someone on my wife's side of the family. i painted the red one for my grandpa's buddy. i have a bit of painting left to do on the red one, but after that, no more side projects until i get mine at least to a rolling chassis.

Re: Under construction again...

Like your truck, like the Mustangs. '67-68 Mustangs are my favorite. I have a buddy who has '67 HT that I have spoken for, if he decides to sell. Hopefully, I'll get a shot at it.

Rather than changing the rear wheel arches to match the front, which would be a lot of work as you cited, have you considered making the fronts match the rear? There is a Joe McPherson, of California, who did a lot of work to his truck, many of them subtle and not so apparent. One thing he did was to swap all four wheel arches from an '88-98 to his '67-72 body. Seems like he had some guy named Squeeg doing his body work in the northern CA area....San Francisco, as I recall. I think he's a car dealer. After the truck was completed, he drove it to Florida....and back. I'm sure he had at least $100K in it at completion.

your truck is one of two I have seen with the late model bed, that I actually like.... and that's saying quite a bit in all reality.
