Hi guys, I just joined the group and was interested in seeing if anyone can help me out. I have a '69 C20 longbed with a big block and a turbo 350 .There is a grommet/plug missing from my firewall that is allowing heat and fumes into the cab. It is about 2 inches in diameter (Oval shaped) and is located right behind the exhaust manifold on the drivers side. Someone suggested that it might be where a shifter rod or a 4X4 rod would go through if the truck was equipped that way. I don't know so I'm trying to ask you guy's to help me identify what it is called, a gm part # if possible, if it might be available in repro, or if someone has one on a parts truck that they would be willing to part with.

sounds like the cut out for the clutch hole.....you may need a clutch delete plate.....check out this picture (may not look exactly like your firewall)....you may want to PM 'teeitup' to see if he has any left....Good luck and I hope this helps....

sounds like a clutch delete plate - do a search in the parts section, there's been a few listed lately and Welcome to the board!

 That would be the shifter linkage cover  not sure if anyone makes a repro, but do a search in the parts section. i know someone was selling a bunch of them not long ago

That would be the hole for the clutch rod. There are a couple of different covers for it, one being a plastic plug and the other being a metal plate held on with a small screw at the top & bottom. I think the metal plate is more common but the plastic plug is easier to install if your firewall doesn't have the screw holes already in it.
