hey, now thats an engine. Looks great.
Two questions, What make are those headers and what size tubes do they have? I am always on the look out for any information I can get on a BB in these trucks as I am building a 454 for mine. I went with the Flowtechs with 1 3/4" primary tubes. You have to grind off some of the flange on the underside of the header to get them to fit over the head bolts on the 502.

That looks great! I have a couple questions for ya since you are setting yours up very close to what I have in mind for mine.
1. Did you use 72 BB stands? If not, what did you use? 2. Did you buy your chrome alt/ac from Zoops as well? 3. Who's product did you use for your fans? I'll be saving these pics for motivation to save the big bucks for the ZZ502!!

The stands are from a 71 with the 5 piece mounts. The alt is from zoops and the AC is from Vintage Air. The fans are Flex-a-lite.

What is the difference from the '71 big block engine mounts to the '72?

Project - The tranny is a built TH 350
Wheels - Below is a pic of the towers. The one on the left is pre 72 and the one on the right is a 72. The pre 72 towers are cheap but the mounts are expensive. The 72s are expensive and stronger but the mounts can be purchased at any parts house.

Hi 72 Chevy: That is beautiful !!!! I have a stupid question, do the 502 crate motors come with aluminum heads and what kind of valves (stainless)? and is your block aluminum also? I don't know that much about them, thanks Doug

The ZZ502 comes with aluminum heads and cast iron block. The valves are 2.25" stainless steel on the intake side and 1.88" on the exaust side.

Next ? Does your engine set back farther with the BB and did you have to shorten your drive shaft ?

I can't speak for 72Chevy on his cost, but you are looking at about 10 grand worth of stuff there in those pics alone. A new ZZ502 is around $7200....add the great things he has like the chrome alt/ac/pulleys, fans, built TH350 and it doesn't take long to add up.

70c10 - You are righ about that, I can't wait to just get it started much less drive it.
1970 CST Short Wide - The engine does set back about an inch. I had the shaft shortened and moved the tranny support. 72'BBGMCSGCC - 1971Stepside is about right with the 10 grand cost. I have not sat down and totaled everything up yet. I'm almost afraid to at this point. Everything is new except for the frame which I had blasted and powdercoated and the steering box which was new last year. The 502 was on special through GM in November for $6800 and the Zoops pulleys and brackets with power steering pump and remote tank was around $800. I figure I will end up with around $20,000 plus by the time it is finished. If everything goes as planned I will have it at the Chevy/GMC Truck Nationals in Pigeon Forge the first weekend in May.
