Re: what can i fit behind stock bench?

Pioneer shallow mount subs. JL Audio TW5's. Kicker CVT's. All will fit behind the seat and not restrict movement.

I used to have 2 10" Pioneer shallow subs in my truck and I think the biggest thing with those subs is that you have to feed them lots of power, otherwise they won't pound like you want them to.

You can fit amps under the seat or try and integrate them into the sub box. I've done both and prefer the under seat option.

Personally, I would look at your current setup and see if you could improve it. 2 good quality 10's in proper airspace with good clean power and crossed over correctly should jam.

We'll need more info on your setup though.

Re: what can i fit behind stock bench?

well i have a jvc 200 watt head unit, no amp, no speakers.. just these subs.. i hooked them up with a freinds amp 250watt amp and they dont hit very good.. i should beable to put 350 watts to them before they pop.. the peak on them is 300 each so 350 togeather should be fine? i was thinking like 1000 watt amp (turned down) and in the door speakers. capacitor and maybe 2 more 10's with custom box. but id rather have 2 12's if i could get them in haha

Re: what can i fit behind stock bench?

i had a very similiar set up you have (mine was an 85' chev single cab) the shallow mounts answer a lot of prayers, the CVT's run roughly about 4" deep, that goes for the 10" and 12" the air space is what makes them great, you can do a small enclosure down to a .5 cu ft for the 12" and .4 cu ft for a 10" sub. thats really nice for a guy like me at 6'1'', also it does not take a ton of power to jam out the sub, a single 12" or 10" 2ohm sub on a ZX400.1 amp jams out really nice!!!!!!!

they are also in prefab boxes the top of the box is roughly a little under 4" on depth and the bottom of the box a little over 6''. as far as depth goes.

Re: what can i fit behind stock bench?

I just tackled this proble actually. Instead of mounting behind the seat, since my 10's have a 5.6" mounting depth, i built a bow center console style. I have a bench seat so it dropped the total volume to about 1.45 cu ft, but with a 2000 watt amp and 2 1200 watt 10's, it jams out really really nice. Just finished installing it tonight...seat all ther way back, which u have to install the seat after the box, makes for a fun time gettin the 2 back bolts in.

Re: what can i fit behind stock bench?

Its an 87, and i have air but theres about two inches between the box and the air vent in the middle, so i think there should be enough room to not block the air...
