Re: what flowmasters do I want?
what series are your's now?? $0's are the loudest, unless you want a single chamber (probably not!). I ran the 40's with a 3" and it was really agressive. It will depend on the cam as well, but for sure the 40/44 are the most agressive of the "street" mufflers. The table shows the series according to sound and goes from loud to mellow. I beleive there are sound clips on the flowmaster site as well?

Re: what flowmasters do I want?
If they are newer (within 10 years old or so) they may have the part # stamped in them, or look at the case, from the welds on the case you'll be able to see the shape of the baffles. I love the 40 series, they give you the rappity rap, rappidy rap idle and folks will know you are coming and going!! The deltas are cool as well.

Re: what flowmasters do I want?
I asked this from a Flowmaster Rep at the Street Rod Show in Louisville last week and he said the general rule is: 40 and younger the Series 40 and 50 and over the Series 50. He may not be to far off.

Re: what flowmasters do I want?
What is the difference between the super 40 and 44? They both sound very similar?

Re: what flowmasters do I want?
Hey Corn...If you are between age 40 & 50 you fall into no man land. Me....I'm an old geezer. I have 40's on my BB CST but I am going to be changing them out cause I want a lower resonance in the cab. All in all it really comes down to taste verses age...I think?

Re: what flowmasters do I want?
I would sugest you look into other brands lol. I havent herd a flowmaster I really liked the sound of. Its all personal taste of course but I think they sound like a beer can. I LOVE magnaflows. I have dual 3" on the 77 you literally feel the sound in your chest when your outside of it, but its mellow in the cab. But I prefer a DEEP rumble over a crackle pop.
mine sounds like the elcamino on this page http://www.magnaflow.com/04sound/04american.asp I also had a single dynomax race bullet on a truck it sounded good too. turn your volume down on this one click race bullet http://www.dynomax.com/sounds/flash/sounds.html

asa I love that green truck of yours and it sounds just like my blazer just wish my blazer was as nice. Jim I listened to the video and the truck sounds good is the motor a stiock crate motor with the exception of exterior bolt on goodies?

Re: what flowmasters do I want?
Yes it is all a matter of personal taste. I will say if anyone wants LOUD those dynomax race bullets are as loud as they come.
I was prooven wrong this morning though a friend stopped and his truck sounded NICE asked him what he was running and he said flowmaster delta flows.

Re: what flowmasters do I want?
Here is a VIDEO CLIP of some original 40 series Flows, 2-1/2" pipe dumped prior to the rear axle. 454 w/ mild cam. This shot is from inside garage, which propably wasn't the best place to put the camera, but you'll get the idea.

Re: what flowmasters do I want?
It's a 350 H.O. 330 H.P. crate motor. Just like it came out of the box with the exception of the Demon Carb. It also has a 3" x 11" air cleaner on it now.

Re: what flowmasters do I want?
thanks for the compliments...
The exhaust was "echoing" in the garage. It does have a nice throaty tone, but isn't quite as loud at idle as it might have sounded. Hope this didn't mislead you. JEG
