Well, they're not made anymore... and they were offered in a smaller segment of trucks.

Funny thing, I can put my hands on 5-6 of them.

You might try shopping for a truck that has the axles, like a mid 70's 1 ton 4x4. Buy the truck, strip it and scrap what you can't use/sell. The rear axle is usually not that hard to find. I'm pretty sure I've seen them almost everytime at a junkyard. The front is definitely more rare.

That was my initial though, and still is, but I dont have the room for a vehicle to sit. The wife would kill me if I brought home a junker and parked it in the driveway

Ever since I was a little kid, I have always liked the 71/72 style. Now 25 some odd years later, I got one.

Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

I rarely post up here but Ive got to say the cage looks great. Every time I would look at a picture and wonder why there was a tube there with no intersection the next shot showed one there. Very well thought out work! With the amount of work involved in the suspension I think you are going the right route on the axles and doing it once.

Why is it the people who build the best stuff always post the least amount of pictures? *hint hint*

Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

Did you ever find some axels? There's a set in our local paper for $1500 http://www.tradewindsweekly.com/deta...x?adnum=390723 (not mine) But shipping might not be worth it.

Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

Thanks for looking out!! I have not found anything local. I found some on Pirate4x4, but shipping was almost $500.00. I will wait till I find them local or find a beat up 1 ton truck that I can strip.

As of right now, I am using the 44 until I come across a deal on the 60/44. I figured that I already spent the money on all the seals, hi steer parts and the knuckle machining. I may as well use it till it breaks. If I tried to sell it, I would not get my money back anyway. Thats what I get for my lack of searching before I started. I am going to leave the stock axles and the stock 3.73 gearing also. Should be a pig on the low rpm, but good at highway speeds Thanks again for looking out.
