Sandblaster Help
Hi I have a 110 lb or 20 gal pressurized abrasive blaster .I am using Black Beauty fine media with a 3.5mm ceramic nozzle. Compressor size is 5HP 60 gal tank 12,5 cfm@ 100psi. This thing is plugging up steady I use it for 15 to 30 seconds and it plugs the media seems to be dry the water trap has no water in it I have the air setting at 125 high 75 low. Thank you for any help.8bolt.

What are you blasting with Black Beauty? IO blasted my uncles wheels, chassis, and rear end.

did you screen the material b4 putting in the blaster?// did the pressure blaster come with instructions?does it have a choke valve?if its been used before ands its a cheaper harbor frieght type the hose coud be disintagrating and causing the clogges same is true of the blasting nozzle

I had the same problem and I started sifting the media before I put it in the pressure pot. I didn't have anymore problems.

cdown it is a cheep 150.00 harbor freight blaster I pick up on holidays in Mn.I will check the hose and change the tip.

Mine did the same thing..........It especially clogs up when Its hot outside. Its the moisture. Put the water separator as far a way from the compressor as you can. Mine will still clogg a bit so every 2 min. I put my finger over the end of the gun and pull the trigger to back blow the media.
If I do that periodically it never cloggs.

If it's a pebble that clogging it then you need to sift the media or use a lrger tip. I used the same setup for my frame. The Black Beauty works well but does have a few large stones that will clog you up. The blaster will need more air pressure with the larger tip so adjust accordingly.

8bolt,
I think all of the guys are right about the clogging issue. Sifting or screening your sand is definitely a must and you have to watch the moisture in the lines as it WILL clump your sand and clog your lines. I've have been having the same problems with my blaster. Get a Good Compressed Air Filter. I am now using the Motor Guard M-100. I have this setup in my garage for both my Sand Blaster and my Powder Coating Setup. I have not had any problems since.
