68 chevy hood question...

Will a 68 style hood fit on a gmc front clip without issues. Which year gmc clip would be necessary?

I don't have my '67 cowl hood on yet, but the only issue I see is the recess on the front of the fenders for the eyebrows. I have '68-'72 GMC fenders on it now and plan to weld a plate over the recess, but I have to wait till I get my hood to be sure

You would have to run a '67 grille to make it work, elevation is the problem. Upper grille chrome sits about 1" higher on the GMC

I don't know but this one says its a 72 with a 68 hood. Don't know about the fenders tho. But I kinda like the look of it.

Re: 68 chevy hood question...

Looks like he unbolted the upper grille bar, and ran '67 eyebrow and hood trim

Re: 68 chevy hood question...

Jaros, I would bet you have 69-72 CHEVY fenders.

None of the GMC fenders have that indent.

To answer the original question, yes, it will fit with the 67-68 top bar, grill support and hood latch.

If you make it worth my while to go digging thru my old parts, I think Chevy and GMC fenders are the same of that year, but I could be wrong...5.00 cover the bet?

I could also be wrong, but my 70 gmc jimmy and my 71 gmc truck both have no indents (and I'm 100% sure they have had no bodywork or replacement parts)

The trim for the 69-72 GMC's look alot like the chevy trim but it is different

Here's a thread with pics of my 70 jimmy

I might learn something today...

Do you have a pic of that with thr trim on? I was wondering how it looked...

Take that $5 and put it in a mutual fund. When you get rich, tell everyone it's because of me!

Have a good one, Rg

Re: 68 chevy hood question...

The upper grill trim should be the only thing you need to replace than run it with no side or hood trim or find 67-68 trim.

You'll need the hood latch too, trust me...

Here's another GMC with an earlier hood...
