I need to raise the Bed floor....
Who can help. Any info/pics will help.
I have searched and there is not alot of info out there and I know you guys are doing it. I have asked before...(no replies as of yet) but the time has come to do it and I dont want to trust just anyone around here to do it without pics and some help from you guys to go with it. I am dead set on raising the floor....due to wanting to keep the stock look when walking by (other than all the custom work performed lol) and I dont really want to cut a hole in the center of the bed. Thanks for your time....and I will post pics as the project moves forward.

Re: I need to raise the Bed floor....
i'm also planning to do this, this winter. gonna raise it so that the tops of the wheel wells hit the bottom of the middle stake hole.
i was planning on just fabbing up some angle brackets, mounting them to the inner bedside, then bolting the floor down to those. for the back, i was planning to step the floor down so it got back to factory height just before the tailgate. curious to hear what other peeps have done. |

I love your project so far...Great job. I plan on raising the floor to the same level as you......I remember seeing a pic of this somewhere. As far as the bed striping the floor down.....do you mean like a 45deg angle?

Re: I need to raise the Bed floor....
thanks man.
i believe is was rockcrwln that did it. if it's the one i'm thinking of, he also widened the wheel wells to fit some big ol' fatties under it too. |

Re: I need to raise the Bed floor....
yup i raised it 10" because i backhalved the frame and the frame is 7 1/2" above the factory frame, im also doing a 2 1/2" bodydrop so thats what makes it 10"
im also hiding everything under the bed, air tank/compressors and fuel cell

Re: I need to raise the Bed floor....
I wanted to raise my bed floor 7 inches. The stock crossmembers under the floor are 3 inches so I needed to come up with a total of 10 inches. I purchased some 5 X 2 tubing and some 3/4 X 3/4 angle iron. I measured up from the original 7 inches and mounted the angle iron with self tapping screws and vise grips. I cut one piece of 5 X 2 tubing to fit the width of the bed and two small pieces at 6 inches. The rear crossmember stayed at the original mounting point. The pictures should be explain the rest of the procedure, hopefully, if not let me know. I have not had time to finish the procedure. I used self tapping screws instead of welding to set up the bed in case I needed to make adjustments.

Re: I need to raise the Bed floor....
Well here is how i am doing mine. I am planning on using a wood as the bed floor and since my cantilever sticks up above the floor the center section is gong to be left open. I am also going to fab up custom bed strips to hold the wood down. What i recommend is that you put an x-bracing on the tops of the bed to keep the bed square (like the pic below) first before removing the floor. I don't have much experience using the stock stuff either wood or metal floor so hopefully someone else will chime in. Sorry i couldn't be much more of a help. Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: I need to raise the Bed floor....
They both look good! I can't decide which one I like better, although I think your current choice goes better w/the design of the rest of the truck. So how did you set everything up under the bed floor? I'm thinking about doing this to my truck too, so the more ideas I get, the better!

Re: I need to raise the Bed floor....
Great stuff guys! Keep them going. I would like this to help others as well. I think this is a clean way to mod the beds. Makes me feel better about cutting something nice up...when the end result looks as good as these. No one likes a classic vehicle cut to pieces. Thanks everyone looks good.
