68 seat vs. 69 seat
A friend of mine recently gave me a 68 seat. I like it much better if for no other reason it folds forward. It's also in way better shape than the other one. He told me though the tracks are different for the 68. Is this the case? If so, will the mounting holes in the floor be different? Thanks.

Re: 68 seat vs. 69 seat
Far as I know they mount in the same place as long as they are both benches. Should be a bolt in swap.

Re: 68 seat vs. 69 seat
That's what I would think but he says the 68 track won't bolt to a 69 seat and vise versa. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks.

Re: 68 seat vs. 69 seat
If you have both seats, how much trouble is it for you to check them both and see what the measurements are? Even if you have to drill a new hole or two, what's the concern? If the earlier seat is in better shape than the later seat, just bolt it in. There really shouldn't be any difference in the mounting for either seat. I've been looking at and sitting on a '68 "Buddy Seat". Looks to me like one would replace the other.

Re: 68 seat vs. 69 seat
all the bench seats 67-72 for pickups(not sure about burbs) will bolt up, my dad has a seat out of a 69 in his 71, i have a seat from a 72 in my 68 my 69 as the seat from my 68 so that swap will deffinately work

Re: 68 seat vs. 69 seat
My friend was right the track for the 69 seat doesn't fit the 68. the 68 is wider so the 69 tracks won't work.

Recently, I bought a seat out of a 71 or 72 Chevy and also used it in my 68 GMC and didn't have any problems with that one either. Maybe it's because it's a GMC? Last edited by 68gmsee; 09-06-2008 at 12:44 PM. Reason: Used 69 GMC... Should have 68 GMC. |

Re: 68 seat vs. 69 seat
I only have tracks off the 69 seat and they just are long enough to bolt to the 68 seat. Would have thought this would be alot easier lol

Re: 68 seat vs. 69 seat
Yes they are identical, it will bolt right in with no modification. The only difference is the seat is the back!!!

Re: 68 seat vs. 69 seat
they are not identical. guess i'll have to find mounts for a 68 seat. the problem is where the mounts bolt to the back of the seat that's where it's different
