Is there a trick to this?
I am installing 3" rear lowering springs and 2" lowering blocks in my '72 this weekend. I think I can figure it out, but is there some trick that I need to know before I get started? Thanks in advance!

I would have to say get a can of wd-40 and an impact gun. The bolts that hold the spring cups on are hell to get off. I don't know about the blocks. Have you C-notched your frame? I've heard lowering more than 4 inches you need a C-notch. Hope this helps. Oh I would get a few spare bolts for the spring cups b/c I snapped one of mine.

You might want to pre soak all the bolts, the u bolts and the spring bolts and consider the posibilty that you may have to replace some of the bolts, check out the threads when you get them off.

I did this last week and I use a some liquid wrench and lots of heat I think the heat worked the best and very large breaker bar. then its a b!tch to get the trailing arm lose from the axle I still haven't free the left side up yet. I'm installing 2in lowering blocks on mine hoping to get done tomorrow and or monday. Good lock with yours. Moose

DANG!!!!! I gave up. There's no way I could get those things loose. With considerable effort I managed to loosen one lower bolt (barely) but the uppers would have been impossible. I took the truck back up to the Firestone shop. They said they would charge about 2 hours shop time, so no big deal. Some things are better left to the pro's (and I use the term loosely). They didn't do the alignment right when they installed the front springs and spindles, so it would have had to go back to them anyway.
