water temp sending unit

Removed my 350 from 72 K-10. I noticed that there are two sending units in the heads one located by the #1 cyclinder and one by # 8 cyclinder. Are these water temp? and if so can I use the port located in my Edelbroke intake maniforld instead??

Re: water temp sending unit

They6 are both temperature sending units, yes. The drivers one for the guage or dummy light, the passenger side one for a smog control vac advance lock out.
You can put one in the intake, but you're better off keeping tabs on the heads. They are what gets dammaged when it gets hot.
