Different Ashtrays. Different Years. Whats the difference?
I need some help identifying what years these two ashtrays are from. The one on the right (the powder coated one) fits in our 69' fleetside

Re: Different Ashtrays. Different Years. Whats the difference?
67 is a unique 1 year only slider, and the face is flatter than the 68 - up. So there's a 67 slider, 68-70 ball bearing , 71-72 slider. In your pics, the powercoated ball bearing one is 68 - 70, and the other one is 71 - 72.

67 face was a little wider also and the slide is straight instead of curved like the 71-72

Re: Different Ashtrays. Different Years. Whats the difference?
Up until now I had no idea there was any difference with the ashtrays,I suppose the one's with the ball bearings would slide a little easier=more desirable?

Actually in my experience the ball bearing ones are the worst. If they are clean and lubed they do OK, but still not as smoothly as the sliders with a light grease on them.

Re: Different Ashtrays. Different Years. Whats the difference?
The ball-bearing ones don`t leave as much room for stashing things because of the sliding carriage.
